8/12 Practice Updates

We will not be holding our cheer camp, but rather starting right in with our evening practices.  

Regular team practices will begin the week of August 21st.  

*Individual teams may choose to meet separate the week of the 14th*  You will be notified by your head coach regarding additional practices

*All teams will practice at tbe Nock Middle School Gymnasium 

Inspiration Team: Monday and Thursday (either 5-6 or 5:30-6:15... I will confirm ASAP)
A Team: Monday and Thursday 6:00-8:00
C Team: Tuesday 5:30-7:30 and Wednesday 6:30-8:30
D/E Team: Wednesday 5:30-7 and Friday 3:30-5:30

We are so excited for 2017 season.  While continuing to support players on the football teams, the athletes of the cheer squads will also be looking to a fabulous competition season.   

In addition, Newburyport Youth Football and Cheerleading is happy to announce that they will be premiering an inspiration cheerleading team for the 2017 season. Any child with cognitive or physical challenges may register for this team. We welcome students from Newburyport and the the surrounding area as we work to celebrate every child.

From Southeast Expressway
Southeast Expressway to Mass. Ave./Roxbury Exit--straight off ramp--- through lights (Mass. Ave.) on to Melnea Cass Boulevard.  Follow to end and go left onto Tremont Street.  RLTAC is 1/4 mile on left.

From the Boston Logan Airport
25 Logan Airport, East Boston, MA 02128
When leaving the airport, follow signs to Boston and go thru the toll booth.  The toll fee is $3.00.  After the toll booth, enter the tunnel and follow the directions toward 93 South/Southeast Expressway.

South of Boston
Route 93 North to Southeast Expressway.  Follow directions above.

North of Boston
Route 93 South/Route 1 to Southeast Expressway.  Follow directions above.

West of Boston
Mass. Pike East to the last exit (Southeast Expressway).  Follow directions above.

Take the Orange Line to Roxbury Crossing.  The Center is directly across the street from the station.

WHERE TO PARK:

RLTAC/RCC Lot 1- Free Parking
Proceed on Malcolm X Boulevard to the intersection of Columbus Ave and Tremont Streets where you’ll come to a traffic light. Take a left onto Columbus Ave and proceed to the next set of traffic lights. At the traffic light take a left onto Cedar Street. Go 30 yards and take a right into Parking Lot 1 at Roxbury Community College. Go to the far end and park in an available space.  If Lot 1 is FULL, proceed to Lot 2 (New Heath Street) or Lot 3 (Centre Street) and park there.

RLTAC/RCC Lot 2- Free Parking 
To get to Lot 2, take a right out of Lot 1 onto Cedar Street and take a left onto Columbus Avenue. Then, take the next left onto New Heath Street. Go 30 yards and take a right into Parking Lot 2.

Renaissance Parking Garage @ Northeastern University for Spectators

Take Exit 18 (Massachusetts Avenue/Roxbury/Frontage Road). Turn left at the third light, staying in one of the two left lanes. Proceed straight onto Melnea Cass Boulevard. Continue for approximately two miles and turn left onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Avenue.

Welcome to Newburyport Football & Cheerleading League

The Newburyport Youth Football and Cheerleading League is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization for youth to develop football (grades 3-8) and cheerleading (grades 1-8) skills. Our program promotes physical fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our participants build character and confidence as they gain responsibility and self-discipline. NYFCL provides a way for our athletes to develop lasting friendships, share great memories, learn valuable life lessons, and have lots of fun while in a safe and positive environment!

Our cheerleading divisions are set up by age:     


Grade 1-2        E-team (Mascot)

Grade 3-4        D-team

Grade 5-6        C-team

Grade 7-8        A-team

 
General Information:

  • All teams practice twice per week for 1-2 hours depending on age: Mon-Thur w/games on weekends: Sat or Sun
  • We have reserved the Nock Gym for all team practices between 5:00-8:00 pm and will also utilize the outdoor fields.
  • Just as with ANY sport, all practices, games and competitions are mandatory.  (Please see schedule below)

Important Dates:

  • June 14th - Uniform Day (Your chance to try on and order all mandatory pieces of uniform as well as team gear!)  
  • June 27-July 1 - NHS Cheer Camp  
  • August 8 - Cheer Season officially begins
  • Week of August 21 - team practices (2 hrs-2/wk) ~ (mandatory– unless traveling)
  • Week of August 28 - team practices (2 hrs-2/wk) ~ (mandatory-first week of school)
  • Games are on Saturday or Sunday and vary by team and weekend (click on football schedule for dates and times and places)
  • September 17 - team photo 
  • October 21  -Ipswich Cheer for a Cure Comp
  • November 4 - CAYFL Comp 
  • November 11 - Andy Yosef Comp  
  • November 13 - CAYFL Super Bowl
